Goals of the Interview Process
We want to get to know who you are and what you’ll bring to our team. We’re looking for self-aware applicants who demonstrate a commitment to learning and wellness, along with a desire to develop community in our residence halls. Ideal candidates will possess some of the basic skills and abilities connected with the CA/HA positions and show potential to succeed with training, without jeopardizing their academics. You will have the opportunity to meet with our staff in both group and individual settings as part of your interview process.
Overview of the Interview Process
Individual Interviews allow applicants to meet individually for 20-25 minutes with a current student staff member and a professional staff member. You will be asked questions about your knowledge of the position and have the opportunity to share how your past experiences will contribute to your success in a ResEd position. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions about the department and/or positions. You will be evaluated on your ability to articulate your skills and abilities, as well as your commitment to the goals of Residential Education and our curriculum.
Final Selection of Staff
We select our staff based on the following, in no particular order
• References
• Application (resume, essays)
• Student Staff Interview Evaluations
• Professional Staff Interview Evaluation
If hired, you will be placed in a specific cohort or building based on the specific needs of the department and your strengths.
We strongly encourage all applicants to meet with a staff member at the Career Center.
